About

Bio

I am Chanseok Kang, an AI Engineer in the CTO Division at LG Electronics. Rather than working in headline AI areas such as speech or vision, I specialize in control, applying energy‑efficient AI algorithms to home appliances and deploying them in mass‑produced products.

I usually work with reinforcement learning (RL) as a problem solver. To make RL practical on the resource‑constrained hardware found in appliances, I have hands‑on experience with data‑driven RL pipelines as well as model quantization and optimization. Drawing on my background in platform software and device‑driver development, I also build communication interfaces between appliances and PCs, creating unique RL environments that did not previously exist.

  • Selected Experience
    • Tuned PID coefficients for HVAC systems in confined spaces by combining RL with classic control theory.
    • Developed a compressor‑control strategy for refrigerators that proactively responds to load changes using data‑driven statistical models.
    • Reduced spin‑cycle vibration across diverse loads in washing machines through data‑centric RL and devised a methodology for continual improvement with real‑world data.
    • Designed optimal drying motions for varied laundry loads by applying RL to dryers, resulting in measurable performance gains.

I am committed to continuous personal growth through external engagements, including:

  • 1 conference paper, 1 registered patent
  • Translator of “Grokking Deep Reinforcement Learning” (Hanbit Media) and technical reviewer for “Machine Learning with TensorFlow” (Hanbit Media).
  • Technical reviewer for multiple specialized publications (Hanbit Media, Jpub, Gilbut, and others).
